So, a couple of weeks ago, I heard about a cool little dance troupe out of Calgary, Canada called Dangerkat from the Johnny McGovern podcast.

I love love love love love love love love love them. I love their vogueing/freaking fusion just because it's all syncronized crazy arms and little kick steps and it's just gorgeous. I want to go to their dance studio. I want to show you their videos... so here we go.

Here is a short little demo reel:

Check out those arms!!

Here is a longer video of their Freakum Performance...

I love the syncrokicks. Oberon I know loves the zombie break.

And finally, my favorite... Opulence

It's all about the death drops.

Admit it, you were sort of fascinated (I'll allow horrified, but I wasn't)

Today I managed to snag BelfryExpress and get him on the show. We both used a little microphone called the "snowflake" and, well, we've taken it back. So I apologize in advance for the sound quality. (to be fair, it was broken)

We talk about attending a wedding and dip into our respective vacations. We also make each other giggle a lot.

I don't like gay people. After several years of dealing with gay people I am now rather resolute in the realization that I do not like them.

This is not to say there aren't people I know who happen to have an uncommon sexuality that I don't love to death... Or that realizations of uncommon sexualities will be a checkbox in the "negative" column of a given person's info-sheet... I try my best to keep an open mind about anyone I meet for the first time.

And really, the whole "gay/not-gay/not-gay-but-not-straight-either/straight-but-likes-other-genders-clothing/gay-but-likes-other-genders-clothing/wants-to-be-other-gender" series of checkboxes are really things that I don't feel should show up until the third encounter after we've decided we like each others company already. I just don't think sexuality in it's base form is that interesting.

Gore Vidal wrote:

The reason no one has yet been able to come up with a good word to describe the homosexualist (sometimes known as gay, fag, queer, etc.) is because he does not exist. The human race is divided into male and female. Many human beings enjoy sexual relations with their own sex, many don't; many respond to both. This plurality is the fact of our nature and not worth fretting about.

There are all sorts of artistic (and pornographic) expressions of sexuality that are interesting... but going "oh, and I'm gay too" doesn't hold any extra cachet with me. It does not make us 'brothers" or "friends" or part of some special little club.

So, if a bunch of people get together in a room/forum/parade and "I am a member of an uncommon sexuality" is the reason for the gathering.... I will avoid the "attending/not-attending" checkbox and write in "you couldn't drag me here unless you got some really good hostages".

The main reason for this... is because such gatherings tend to be organized-by, written-by, and generally run-by the Mega Militant Super Homos, and you know how I feel about them.

Men In Black wrote:

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Everything they've ever "known" has been proven to be wrong. A thousand years ago everybody knew as a fact, that the earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew that the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on it. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.

The MMSH's "know" that uncommon sexualities are poor, oppressed creatures that everyone hates. They "know" that any politician who does not express a fawning interest in the gay community is a horrible person and should not be trusted/liked/voted-for. They "know" the same applies to companies, and that any icky person on the board of a company means that the company should be considered icky by proxy.

Usually, the MMSH's I have encountered have been so few and far between that I can pretty much ignore them. But the place where they gather and find attention ad (even scarier) justification is at all these gay-centric events. I pretty much have to avoid the community events where they run the show (and usually make lots of money) because they just infect everyone with this zeal which I find really disgusting.

The legacy of the great gay movement is a beautiful thing. Before it was fighting for very important things like "please stop treating homosexuality like a mental disorder" and "please stop arresting people for having gay sex" and "gosh, we would really like HIV treatments to stop being dicked-with because people are dying."

The MMSHs have become the false prophets of the movement... whipping up propaganda and unequivocal statements about what is "bad" and feeding it to community members who have been stirred to a froth because whatever "bad" thing is framed in such a way to make it feel like they are in High School again. I am apparently a bad gay for appreciating cars made by companies that don't make strides to show how nice they are to their gay employees. I am a horrible gay for daring to say that politicians who don't kiss our ass aren't horrible people... and I am downright treasonous to question claims that they want gays censured, killed, destroyed, or other random ill as opposed to not really giving a shit.

Granted. There are some really ridiculous things that homosexualists have to put up with. The few that come to mind are Blood donation, participation in military service, and some of the benefits that come with pairing off and wanting to merge certain aspects of livelihoods. Thankfully those are being fought for by a wide community of gays and their friends. But several of the things that I have seen taken up as very gay causes are not very gay at all.

I guess my main example of this is gaybashing. Gaybashing is bullying. More often than not it's the sad fact that people are getting beat up that tears at my heartstrings not that they were getting beat up for being gay. People get beat up for being black or women too, People get beat up because they are different and in with a bad crowd who felt it was the right thing to do. I think we should end the bullying and the idea that it's okay to beat up people you don't know because they are defenseless or you don't like them. Gay shouldn't have much to do with it.

The same goes for corporate politics. Some companies are nice and give out partner benefits and all that. Some don't. If you don't like that some don't, then don't work for those companies. But the idea that you are going to boycott a company and their product because their corporate policies don't jibe with your personal beleifs never sits right with me. You're buying their trinket, not their HR department. If your going to personify this company, then stop strapping a Snidely Whiplash mask to the face. Stop calling for a 2 minute hate at the villain of the week.

I dunno. The main thing that saddens me is that I feel like I am the product and the benefit of the struggles of the Gay community. I was never gaybashed or threatened. I wasn't disowned by my parents or my extended family. I grew up loved with lots of good friends who don't give a shit about where I like to put my penis. The people in my life accept me for who I am and I feel like the luckiest boy in the world. I am grateful that I am not afraid of it.

However, when I am in a room/forum/street full of gay people... I am scared shitless. I'm have been excoriated in public numerous times for pissing off the lead gay and pointing out the holes in their arguments. I have been called bad gay and troll and read and shaded and felt like I was in some grown up "lord of the flies" circuit party where everyone turned against me. I have been made to feel the enemy for not hating the way they want me to hate.
So I think I am going to have to avoid them until I see better evidence that the vast majority of today's homosexualists have pulled their head out of their ass.

Hey ya'll!

I am going on vacation for the next week. I am not sure how well the internet will be at the beach house I am staying at... so I am not sure whether there will be podcasts and the like next week, but I am bringing my headset and tether-able phone and I will try my best.

Hope you are having a fun summer. Talk to you later.

In this episode, I talk about project runway, come up wih a better description for Kenley's Dress that won last episode, and dish on all the little fights that seem to keep breaking out.

Oh my gawd, I am so excited!

On today's show I have the fantabulous, splendiferous, lactafarian... the thirty three year old single sober drag queen hostess with the mostest... breaker of my podcherry... Wanda Wisdom!!

I listened to Wanda Wisdom when she first hit iTunes like a ton of bricks. She was my first podcast and I don't need to explain how exciting it is to have her on my show. So in invite you to listen and enjoy.

While I was in DC, I met Tim Corrimal from the Go Rainbow Radio and There Are Some Who Call Me Tim podcasts. He was nice enough to have me on episode 72 of the latter… and now he has posted a video he took with his Flip Camera of me driving the smart around the parking lot, putting the roof rails in, and reading the FAQ from the owners of the car.

Enjoy the video here!

Welcome to the third Project Runway Scrappy for Season 5.

In this episode, I break out with the auf-ee first, so if you haven’t seen the show than skip this until you have, otherwise no complaining about spoilers.

I've been thinking, on and off, about the Smart Car, though I don't know if the cabriolet is available in New Zealand (I haven't checked). Still, I enjoyed the look at this one. One small suggestion, it may help if you have headphones when you record so you'll know if something can be heard. Regardless, I enjoyed seeing he video!

P.S. Your friend drinks a lot of Red Bull, eh?
